the join lines at the sides are staggered by 180°.Join lines are generally arranged along
the shortest sides. However, the two options are shown below.
The circle can be divided into 12 equal parts using the ARRAY feature. Draw line 01.
Choose POLAR ARRAY, click on the circle centre and insert 12 items. Then add the
numbers as shown. The pattern will be 40 1t in length, which is 125.66mm, and the
distances around the circumference between successive points are calculated to be
10.47mm.
The vertical lines on the pattern can be set out using the RECTANGULAR ARRAY feature.
My software requires me to perform these operations:

1. draw a vertical line at point 1 which is to be copied;
2. choose Array in the Construct menu;
3. choose R for rectangular array;
4. type 1 for the number of rows;
5. type 13 for the number of columns;
6. type 10.47 which is the distance between columns;
7. press <Enter>.
Please note that other software will divide a quoted distance into a given number of parts
directly.
