Overcoming Your Fears
have survived this long in this complex and demanding world, you
are bound to have taken at least one risk.
Taking Risks
Let’s do an exercise to find out how you did it and how you can do
it again.
What are three risks I’ve taken in my life that have had a positive
outcome for me? Describe exactly what happened before and after
the positive risk and your role in making it turn out favorably.

Ask yourself, “What do these three risks have in common? What
mental attitudes and emotional attributes do they have in com-
mon? What do they say about me?” Write your answer here:

Finally, write a paragraph or more about why you would like to
make a career transition right now. Write both the negatives of
your last or present job and the positives you hope for in your next
job.

You probably noticed some patterns in the successful risks you
took, and you may have discovered some personal attributes that
you hadn’t really thought of before.
