ballet, high-speed Internet connections, membership to a country
club, wireless handheld devices, a fully stocked home workshop,
video equipment, expensive cameras, new kitchenware, linens, or
home décor, a second car for yourself or your family, first-class
travel, extensive investments and retirement income, a pool—you
get the picture.
Now that the difference is clear, take a minute to think about
the following: What do you want, when do you want them, and
what will be the cost of enjoying those things?
Please use this section to list your absolute necessities for at
least a three-month period. (You may want to refer to the lists
above so you don’t leave anything out.) Then, do your best to esti-
mate the monthly (and quarterly) costs of each of the items you
chose. For example:
