Of course, not everything can be virtualized, so there may still be some servers in your
organization that are dedicated to sole tasks. However, those that can be consolidated
should be.
Virtualization is ideal for applications that are used on a small or medium scale. It’s your
high-performance applications that need one or more clustered servers to get their jobs done.
Let’s consider a 12GHz server (a four-core device with 3GHz per core). We can divide it
into 16 virtual servers, each with 750MHz of processing power. This is illustrated in
Figure 12-2.
