1 WATER SUPPLY AND WASTEWATER DISPOSAL
                  INFRASTRUCTURE
In Poland, over 283,000 km of water supply networks and about 50,000 km of ser-
vice lines were in operation in 2012. In the same year, wastewater disposal networks
amounted to 126,000 km [1]. A dynamic development of networks has been
observed in Poland since 1990: the average of about 4500 km of water supply pipe-
lines and over 8000 km of wastewater disposal pipelines were constructed annually
in the period 2005-12. In the Czech Republic, 21% (2012) of the population was sup-
plied with water from public water supply networks, while 79% receives water from
non-public water supply networks. In Canada, the length of water supply networks
                  reaches almost 91.1% [2].
Materials used to manufacture water supply or wastewater disposal conduits
should be characterized by the following properties:

                  – Leak-tight
                  – Inert relative to the transmitted medium (water or wastewater)
