A pre-coated steel sheet for
household electrical appliances
needs to be highly formable and

stain-resistant. Polyester/
melamine-formaldehyde resin
blend in solution was used for

steel coating. The surface was
enriched with melamine formalde-

hyde resin.
Stain-resistant cationic-dye-
able polyamide-6 was obtained by

uptake and acid dye resistance rate

were improved by the modification with sodium salt of 5-sulfoisophthalic acid. Incorpo-
ration of polyethylene glycol destroyed the regularity of molecular chain arrangement,
20
created more amorphous regions, and changed the polyamide-6 from α-form to γ-form.
Organic-inorganic hybrids were synthesized using polymethylhydrosiloxane,
2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluorobutylmethacrylate, and tetraethylorthosilicate with a platinum cata-

lyst. The resulting hybrids formed transparent thin films on glass substrate. The hybrid
thin films had good transparency, hydrophobicity, and good mechanical and anti-stain

properties. Figure 8.7 shows the structure and NMR spectra of hybrid coating.
