components that have just been cut to raise the effect of the vacuum system under the
first already cut polyethylene cover (see Fig. 9.23, film on the right of the cutting head).
As the cut material, consisting of several plies pressed together, is thicker and not
homogenous, many of the tools used for the single-ply cutting cannot be used, and the
normal cutting time is longer than that of single-ply cutting. The cutting process is
carried out by long-stroke high oscillation knives and drills or punches. The knife os-
cillates up and down the z-axis. An additional motor is used to control this movement
that makes the drive system more complex than that required for the single-ply cutting
