11.2.5 Case Study
3D TRASAR Technology for Sugar equipment was installed at a large raw
sugar mill. The mill faces water scarcity and consequently reuses process
condensate in its low-pressure boilers. For monitoring the process conden-
sate quality, an a-naphthol test was done every 15 minutes. In Figure 11.7,
the performance of the conductivity sensor is shown. The crosses represent
the a-naphthol data points from the operator logs. The results from the test
are qualitative and are logged as nil, trace, very faint, and so forth, depend-
ing upon the color intensity of the ring that develops for the sample under
test. The a-naphthol test data indicates that there is an entrainment event
