Computer flow simulation can provide a frozen layer plot that will highlight areas
that are freezing prematurely. Try to use the software to locate the gate in a loca-
tion where the thick sections of the mold can be packed out.

45.3.4 Voids Troubleshooting Material Issues
There is a big difference between molding of a transparent or an opaque material
concerning the detection of voids. When molding opaque materials, it is not possi-
ble to see a void, but in a transparent material a void will be obvious. To find a void
in an opaque material the part must be cross sectioned to detect the void.
In critical molded parts X-ray inspection may be required to detect voids. This
method provides a nondestructive means of examining the molded part.
