196 Know Yourself and Your Sticky Floors

                                                                Yes No

             1. I know the standards of work performance
based on the expectation of my key
                 stakeholders and I consciously decide
whether I will meet or exceed them.

             2. I don’t get caught up in the details of things
and lose sight of the bigger picture or
                 broader business perspective.

             3. I do not micromanage others’ work to
ensure it meets very high standards, and I
am not overly critical of others who do not
meet my high standards of performance.

           Building Strategic Relationships

Building strategic relationships is having a goal that is important to
you, and then looking at those individuals who can help you achieve
it rather than doing it on your own. It’s looking at what you need to
learn, who you need to know, who could be an advocate or sponsor
for you, figuring how to contact them, and then being able to ask for
that help in a way the people know how to respond. It’s also lever-
aging and building broader and deeper relationships across the orga-
nization, and looking at networks of relationships as more of a web
           than your traditional organizational chart.

                                                                Yes No

             1. I have a diverse group of people in my
network which includes individuals in my
industry as well as inside and outside my
                 company.
