List the two to three most important performance goals you must achieve
within one year. These goals should reflect the most significant contributions
you plan to make to the business or function of which you are a part. Identify
criteria by which these goals will be measured whenever possible.
Once your new charter is confirmed, establish a schedule of events so both
you and your boss will know the sequence of events and timeline for making
your transition. You will lessen the pressure you feel to make something hap-
pen immediately if you plan the process in writing.
