14.8 LITHIUM/MANGANESE DIOXIDE (Li/MNO ) BATTERIES

The lithium/manganese dioxide (Li/MnO ) battery was one of the first lithium/solid-cathode systems

to be used commercially and is now the most widely used primary lithium battery. it is available in
many configurations, including coin, bobbin, spirally wound cylindrical, and prismatic configura-
tions in multicell batteries, and in designs for low, moderate, and moderately high drain applications.
