The good performance of the Li/MnO battery at the lower-rate discharges is evident, and it still

delivers a higher percentage of its capacity at relatively high discharge rates compared to conven-
tional aqueous primary cells.
The discharge characteristics of a larger (D-size) spiral-wound Li/MnO battery are shown in

Fig. 14.53. These figures show the discharge curves at three rates (250 mA, 2.0 A, and 3.0 A) at
temperatures from -40 to +72°C. The discharge characteristics indicate the fall-off in performance
at lower temperatures.
