you’re supposed to deliver.

3. Set goals to work on one or two types of overtness for one or
two of your summary outputs in the following few weeks. Table
2.1 may prove helpful in organizing your thoughts and plans.
It can also serve as the table of contents for the notebook you
started in Chapter 1. Begin by setting a deadline by which you
will have crafted a fi rst draft of your summary outputs state-
ments; write this deadline in column 1. Then select one of the
individual items on your summary outputs list and select one
area of overtness from columns 2 through 6. Set a deadline for
you to explore only that area of overtness, for only that item on
your summary outputs list. Write it in the appropriate location
in the table. Never set more than two such deadlines at a time,
and don’t set new deadlines until old items are completed. This
will help you to make small, incremental improvement in your
level of overtness without becoming overwhelmed.
