The higher the degree of folding, the greater the absorption. This is mainly because folds increase
the amount of surface area presented to sound. The effect is shown in Fig. 12-16. The “draped to 7/8
area” means that the entire 8/8 area is drawn in only slightly (1/8) from the flat condition. As can be
seen, the deeper the drape fold, the greater the absorption.
