A coolant temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the coolant is disposed in a
water jacket of a cylinder block of the engine. The coolant temperature sensor generates an
analog voltage signal in response to the temperature of the coolant, and transmits this signal to
the A/D converter of the control circuit .
