                    capabilities.
                       The mechanistic-empirical (M-E) approach is based on the limited use of the
                    principles of mechanics such as elasticity, plasticity, and viscoelasticity. It involves two
                    steps. In the first step, the layered pavement system is analyzed by using a mechanistic
