continues until the participant turns off piling for the task via the View Profile
form, or the participant logs out (although a configuration value may be set to
persist the piling across user sessions). A participant must have the “Can Pile”
                              task privilege to enable piling.

                           10.7.3 The Started Queue

The Started queue lists the work items that have been started by or for a participant.
Each work item on a started queue has begun execution in a system sense, but may
or may not have had any actual work begun for it by the participant – such work
is performed by the participant viewing, editing, and finally completing the work
item. A work item may arrive on a participant’s started queue via one of the fol-
lowing paths: the task from which the work item was created had a system-initiated
offer interaction, a system-initiated allocate interaction, and a system-initiated start
interaction specified at design time, and the participant is a member of the speci-
fied distribution set, and the specified allocation strategy employed has resulted in
the participant being chosen to be allocated the work item; the task from which
the work item was created had a user-initiated start interaction specified at design
time, and the participant has chosen the Start action for the work item on the allo-
cated queue; the task from which the work item was created had a system-initiated
start interaction specified at design time, and the participant has chosen the Accept
Offer or Accept & Start action for the work item on the offered queue; the task
from which the work item was created had a user-initiated start interaction spec-
ified at design time, and the participant has chosen the Accept & Start action for
the work item on the offered queue; the task from which the work item was created
had a user-initiated offer interaction specified at design time or had an empty or
invalid resourcing specification, and an administrator has manually started the work
item for the participant; the work item was on the participant’s suspended queue
and has been subsequently unsuspended; the work item was on the started queue of
another participant and reallocated to this participant (see below); or an administra-
tor has manually restarted the work item for the participant, the work item having
previously been started by another participant.
A participant may take the following actions on a work item in a started queue:
View/Edit: This action will display the data parameters and their current val-
ues for the selected work item, either on a dynamically generated form or, if
specified, a custom form, allowing the participant to view and/or edit the form’s
values. Any modified values are stored so that this action can be repeated for a
particular work item a number of times before completion, allowing the work
item to be processed by the participant in a progressive manner, if required. This
action is disabled if the work item has no data parameters to display or gather
                              values for.
