Prepare for the Interview
The principles for interview preparation in Chapter 4 provide guidance
for much of what you need to do as you gear up for job interviews. To get
a better understanding of what’s involved here, let’s begin by dividing
interview preparation principles into five categories:
Assess your strengths and relate them to employers’ needs.
Conduct research on the field of work you hope to enter as well
as conduct research on organizations in your targeted commu-
nity that hire for these types of positions.
Prepare for the verbal interchange.
Prepare your nonverbal strategies.
Deal with logistics.
Preparation tales time, but since your livelihood as well as your work

well spent.
Assess Strengths and Relate to Employers‘ Needs
If you have not already done so, you should assess your work-related
strengths and consider ways to relate these to the employer’s needs.
