SDH brings harmony to the overall multiplexing of the various
signals and transport rates. It also acts as the gateway between
SONET and SDH structure. It has been over a decade since actual
ratification of the standards, and now more than ever, the benefits
are visible. Transcontinental links are now in heavy use around the
world on fiber-based architectures. The costs of circuits between and
among countries are at an all-time low due to the bandwidth. As
more equipment and carriers are deployed across the world, the
World Wide Web of carriers and Internet access will definitely
become the norm.
