182 PVT Property Correlations
7.3 A PVT report for a representative reservoir fluid sample is available for
the fluid in Problem 7.2. Use the correlation input data of Problem 7.2
to estimate bubble-point pressure from correlations given in Appendix
A, Oil Correlations Formulae (Standing, 1947; Al-Marhoun, 1988; and
McCain, 1991). Compare the calculated bubble-point pressure to the
measured value of 1430 psia. Calculate oil formation volume factor,
solution GOR, oil density, oil viscosity, and oil compressibility using
Standing (1947), Al-Marhoun (1988), and latest McCain (1991) correla-
tions (when applicable) at the bubble-point pressure. Compare the cal-
culated values to the laboratory-measured values from the PVT report:
Measured values from the PVT report at the bubble-point pressure
are:
Oil formation volume factor 5 1.0810 rbbl/STB
Solution GOR 5 411 scf/STB
Oil density 5 48.0 lbm/ft3
Oil viscosity 5 1.230 cp
Oil compressibility 5 8.3526E 2 6 psi 21
