313,530 hours. Although comparable statistics for conventional lubricated
compressors were not available, it is unlikely that their repair history would
have been more favorable than that of the labyrinth-piston compressors.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE is SUFFICIENT IN FOULING SERVICE
The excellent performance of the labyrinth-piston compressors in foul-
ing service at Plant A can be attributed to the routine maintenance the
units receive. Six four-throw, two-stage machines are given routine over-
hauls after every 8,000-10,000 operating hours. Three of the six
machines are always in service, and there are times when all six
machines are online.
Overhauls are generally completed in three to four working days, with
three or four machinists working 12-hour shifts. Typical tasks include:
