precursor helps to increase rate of fermentation, which overall reduces the duration
of process. The bottle is maintained at room temperature until fermented mixture is
soluble. The soluble product can be filtered with the fabricated filter, and the sec-
ond batch of filtered solution is termed as second batch of biofertilizer.
16.3.2 Anaerobic digestion process for production
of methane gas
Agroindustry waste can be utilized for producing methane gas using a process
called anaerobic digestion (Fig. 16.3). The methane gas produced from such process
is useful in heating of water, drying of grains, and broiler operation. Anaerobic
digestion of agroindustry waste is a two-step microbial fermentation process. In the
first step the volatile solids are broken down to organic acids using acid-forming
