CHAPTER 4

                  Asking Questions with

                         Skill and Finesse

                          Successful people ask better questions,
and as a result, they get better answers.

                                  —Anthony Robbins,
                           ADVISOR AND MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER

ow that you know how to listen more effectively and
Nhow to turn features into benefits, you need to deter-
mine what benefits are important to each interviewer and
how to discuss your experience and skills in ways that are
meaningful to individual interviewers. After all, asking good
questions is as important as giving good answers! There
comes a time in every interview when you have to ask ques-
tions, either to get specific information or to continue the
conversation. Although you almost surely will be asked if
you have any questions at the end of the interview, don’t
wait to be asked. It is important that you ask pertinent ques-
tions to show both that you have been paying attention and
that you are interested in the job. After all, what interviewer
would hire a person who does not ask questions during
               the interview?
