SELL YOURSELF IN ANY INTERVIEW

“What is the process?” This is a key phrase that leaves an
opening for the interviewer to provide you with a lot of valu-
able information. The response could answer several more
              direct questions with specific details:

❏ “What is going to happen?”

              ❏ “When will I know?”

              ❏ “Where do I stand?”

❏ “Who is involved in the decision-making process?”

Now take another look at the list of standard interview ques-
tions and rephrase them as soft questions or as leading state-
              ments using Exhibit 4-4.

Exhibit 4-4 PRACTICE ASKING SOFT QUESTIONS AND
                          MAKING LEADING STATEMENTS

Rephrase the following list of standard interview questions by
changing them to soft questions or leading statements. Use
your own words so that you can become comfortable with
              the process.

Standard question: “How would you describe this job?”

Soft question or leading statement: ________________________
              _____________________________________________________

Standard question: “Who will be my supervisor?”

Soft question or leading statement: ________________________
              _____________________________________________________
