SELL YOURSELF IN ANY INTERVIEW

              ❏ “I’m wondering if . . . .”
              ❏ “Perhaps you could tell me . . . .”
              ❏ “I’m just curious about . . . .”

Again, it is more important to understand and master the skill
of asking unobtrusive questions than to memorize any par-
ticular phrase. Your tone and attitude go a long way toward
delivering these soft questions effectively. Relax, smile, and
ask your question with an attitude that you are genuinely
              interested in the answer.

                    WHY THESE SKILLS ARE IMPORTANT

Open probes, soft questions, leading statements, and simple
prompts are important skills that take practice. Combined
with good listening, they can provide you with clear insight
into how to express benefits about your skills and experience
that will be meaningful to your interviewer. Even if you don’t
receive an offer, if you have asked good questions, you will
be armed with valuable information and be better prepared
              for the next interview.
To use these skills effectively, you must make them a
              habit—and that requires
                  Practice

                  Patience
                  Persistence
                  More practice

The good news is that you can easily practice these skills with
your family and friends. Try it the next time you go out to din-
ner, and observe the differences in the responses you get. You
can gauge your success on how much information you learn,
