            turbine casing. This is illustrated in Fig. 2.2. Except for a few occa-
            sional special designs, turbine casings are generally horizontally split
            and designed to provide reliable, leak-free operation with metal-to-
            metal joints, moisture drainage provisions, and multiple casing inspec-
            tion openings.
