Samples of the derivatives were then injected into the gas chromatograph, and the eluents monitored
with the tandem atomic emission spectrometer. The extraction efficiency for the tin compounds was
generally about 95%, with a number of exceptions. For example, the monoalkyl tin compounds were
particularly recalcitrant and could not be recovered, even with a complexing reagent. An example of the
separations that were obtained are shown in Figure 6.8, which includes a chromatogram monitored by
the emission at 271 nm, the characteristic emission wavelength of atomic tin.
