the torch by means of a heated interface tube. Microwave energy was generated by a magnetron power
supply which was passed to the torch by means of appropriate wave guides. The tandem system was
computer controlled, and a diode array sensor system was used, so that reconstructed chromatograms
could be generated at wavelengths pertinent to specific elements.
