It is seen that the spectrum taken from Figure 8.11 is extremely clear and unambiguous and was
obtained from about 92 ng of sample. The lower chromatogram in Figure 8.12 shows the limit of
detection, which appears to be about 13 ng, an extremely low sample size for this type of interface. This
interface system provides high sensitivity and excellent spectra but the authors only claim success with
mobile phases carrying up to 20% of water. Although this opens up a significant range of analyses to
this particular LC/FTIR tandem system, the limit of 20% water in the mobile phase still excludes the
majority of reversed phase applications.
