ways in which session concepts or material learned can help increase effectiveness and
efficiency or reduce stress in the workplace or other environment.
To prepare, form teams of six to eight participants and provide flip chart paper to
each team. Randomly select leaders and scribes for each group. Tell teams that they have
10 minutes to brainstorm as many benefits received from the session as they can think
of and list them on their papers. After 10 minutes, have group leaders reveal and explain
the list of benefits that they developed. Reward appropriately.
Play a Game
Use a TV game show format to review key concepts. There are software programs that
model popular game show (e.g., “Jeopardy” and “Family Feud”) that allow you to cus-
tomize categories and answers to your material. You can also buy flashing lights and
sounds (see The Trainer’s Warehouse in Resources for Trainers in the appendices) and cus-
tomized game show type theme music (see Creative Presentation Resources in Resources
for Trainers in the appendices). Games can be played with individuals or teams.
Certificate Exchange
If you are giving course certificates, pass them out randomly making sure that no one
gets his own. Have everyone stand and locate the owner of the certificate he holds. He
can then share what he believes is the most important thing he learned in the program
and explain why he believes it to be so.

Identifying Review Activities
ake a trip to your local bookstore, library, or Internet bookstores to search for
Mbooks on games and activities that can be used for closing a session. Build a
file of various activities so that you can use more variety in your reviews. Start using
an end of session review in addition to interim reviews during you sessions to
reinforce the learning.
