kerage business? Plenty. Isn’t a lot of business conducted on the golf
course? Aren’t country clubs good places to wine and dine clients?
Let’s look to this galaxy of thought for ways to improve the broker-
age business. Don’t you use different tools to attack different shots in
golf? Your driver, fairway woods, irons of different denominations,
wedges, putter, and so on. Do you have different tools and weapons
when dealing with different situations in the brokerage business (tele-
phone, e-mail, regular mail, cold calling, networking, etc.)? Are some
golfers better at their short game than others and vice versa? Do players
with opposite strengths make good partners in competitions such as best
ball and scramble? Wouldn’t John Daly with his long game off the tee
make a great partner for Brad Faxon with his deadly putter in a best-ball
round of a Ryder Cup tournament? Should some brokers divide and
conquer to exploit their strengths? This could be a viable business strat-
egy for the right brokerage team.

Simply going to seemingly unrelated galaxies that have nothing to do
with our box of choice opens us up to whole new realms of creative
