                 Details about the specific items included in each subcategory and many of the
             exceptions can be found in the sections for each individual credit.


        Materials and Resources Prerequisites

             MR Prerequisite 1: Storage and Collection of Recyclables
             This prerequisite covers what we commonly consider to be building user consumption
             recycling. It requires that the common practices of recycling items such as drink bottles
             and office paper be incorporated into the design and operations of the facility. It has two
             components. The first is to make sure that there are easily accessible and marked
             recycling areas in the building design so that all the occupants can recycle these items readily.
             Areas should be designated for easy user access in commercial and institutional facilities
             and, as appropriate, for central collection, especially for residential complexes. The second is
             to make sure that recycling is part of the operations and is actually implemented.
             USGBC Rating System
             LEED-NC 2.2 lists the Intent, Requirements, and Potential Technologies and Strategies
             for this prerequisite as follows (LEED 2009 is essentially the same):
