5.5 MR Credit Subcategory 5: Regional Materials
MR Credit 5: Regional Materials—Extracted, Processed,
and Manufactured Regionally
The intent of this credit subcategory is to encourage the use of regional materials to
lessen the environmental impacts of transportation and to make regions more self-sufficient.
In LEED 2.2, MRc5.1 is worth one point, and MRc5.2 is worth one point in addition to
the point for MRc5.1. LEED 2009 has consolidated both into the single MRc5 subcategory
with similar varying points depending on compliance, one point for 10 percent and two
points for 20 percent.
