LEED Sustainable Sites 35
FIGURE 2.0.1 Various basic land areas for the Sustainable Sites calculations.
OS Open space—all natural areas and landscaped areas, also wet areas
with vegetated low slopes
PD Previously developed—all areas that have been built upon,
landscaped, or graded (not including areas that may have been
farmed in centuries past and have returned to natural vegetation)
TR Total roof—area defined as the sum of the horizontal projections of
the roofs on the site plan less the sum of the roofed areas that hold
equipment, solar energy panels, or other appurtenances (BF − EQR)
WETMAN Total manmade wetland, ponds, or pool areas
WETMANLS Total manmade wetland, ponds, or pools with vegetated low slopes
(<25 percent) leading to its edges. This does not include pools and
fountains with impervious bottoms as these are part of the hardscape.
WETMANSS Total manmade wetland, ponds, or pools with any steep (>25 percent) or
unvegetated slopes leading to its edges. This does not include pools and
fountains with impervious bottoms as these are part of the hardscape.
WETNAT Total natural wetlands, ponds, stream, or pool areas
The various areas relate to each other in the following ways. The total manmade wet
areas are the sum of those with low-sloped edges and those which have some steep slopes.
WETMAN = WETMANLS + WETMANSS (2.0.1)
