ous type differences of individuals, few reject values-oriented comments that balance
the logic of a decision.
The glue that holds a team together is often awareness and understanding based on
type difference. The rituals we established at Melaver, Inc. include conducting an
®
MBTI analysis on all staff members, following up this analysis with one-on-one ses-
sions so the individual understands his or her type preference, collating all of the staff
members’ type preferences into a single table so that everyone can see the diversity of
personalities that go into the construction of a team, and working with teams to lever-
age each other’s type preferences. An overview of the Melaver team’s preferences is
provided in Figure 2.2.
