THE STRONG START 47
1. Tell the story as if it were true. The punch line is a lot funnier if
we aren’t expecting it.
2. Tell the story to make a business point. If you don’t make a point,
you have no business telling a joke.
3. Never tell a story at the expense of women or minorities. If you do,
you will surely regret it. You will likely be cast ever after as a
bigot and boor, and perhaps even trigger a self-infl icted career
setback.
4. Make sure you tell the story correctly, and don’t mess up the punch
line.
