These days, it seems like most “robots” are little more than glorified radio-con-
trolled cars, sometimes equipped with a lot of armor, sensors, and manipulat-
ing arms. Robots like these are used by scientists, the military, police, and
emergency workers to go places and do things too dangerous for humans.
Minebot puts you in the driver’s seat of just such a robot: you’re tasked
with traversing a minefield to rescue hostages. You are equipped with a prox-
imity scanner to sense the presence of nearby mines, and some levels include
the use of dynamite and other tools.

Okay, you got us—it’s really just a fancy version of Minesweeper, a silly lit-
tle game that comes with every version of Windows. This program takes it to a
whole new level, though, and the premise really does involve driving a robot
around—so give it a shot.
