256 The Ultimate Palm Robot

PC. Programs are beamed via infrared to the robot, which then can run the
program. The core system comes with touch and light sensors, but other
sensors, such as rotation and temperature sensors, are also available.

FIRST Scoring
If you are into robots, you no doubt know all about FIRST (For Inspiration and
Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST sponsors an annual robotics
competition that currently features 20,000 students in 800 teams across the
country and internationally. FIRST also sponsors a Lego league that allows
students to compete with Lego Mindstorms designs—it’s considered a sort of
“little league” in the FIRST community.
