36 The Ultimate Palm Robot

That simple principle applies to the PPRK and its wheels. Each wheel
can supply a force to the robot, and the sum of the different forces re-
solves into a single composite force that moves the robot in any direction
desired.

Connecting the Palm III or Palm V to the SV203 controller board so that the
two can talk to each other requires a special cable with a Palm connector on
one end, and a DB9 serial connector on the other end. You can get a prebuilt
connector for this purpose from www.syncablesolutions.com. You can also
get these connectors from Acroname, but they are not prebuilt. With the con-
nector from Acroname, you will still need to solder the wires in the Palm cable
to the DB9 serial connector.

The BrainStem controller uses a different kind of connector. For the
BrainStem, Acroname carries a number of different cables to connect many
different devices to the controller. There are cables for Palms, Handspring
Visors, PCs, and even Pocket PCs.
