Connector Housing
Connecting the various sensors, servos, and battery packs to the controller
uses wires with simple connectors so that no soldering or special wiring is
needed. Simply plug the wires into the connector housing, connect the hous-
ing to the appropriate pins, and the connection is complete.
All of the connectors mentioned here can be found at www.mouser.com.
All you need to do is simply search for the part number. Another source is
www.acroname.com, where you can find a grab bag of various connectors for
your robot.
For the PPRK that uses the Pontech controller, you will need five Molex
connectors, part number 50-57-9002.
For the BrainStem controller, you’ll need two pieces of Molex 50-57-9002
and six pieces of Molex 50-57-9003.
For all the Molex connectors, you’ll need crimp terminals. These crimp
around the wire and slide into the housing. This mates the wire to the hous-
ing. For the Molex 50-57-900x connectors, you can use Molex 70058 or 71851
crimp terminals.
To connect to the sensor, you’ll need three pieces of Molex 87369-0300. You
will need Molex 50212 crimp terminals with this connector housing.
Aluminum Frame and Miscellaneous Hardware
The aluminum frame connects to the acrylic deck, and is used to support the
servos and IR rangers. The miscellaneous hardware consists of nuts, bolts,
