The system state definitions, transition sequences, and the associated operational
procedures will no doubt be specific to each experimental facility. However, some
generic state definitions and transition sequences are expected to be very similar
between various liquid-metal facilities.
The system states and transitions presented above form the basis for the generic
operational descriptions that follow in the subsequent sections.
