Acknowledgments
There are far more people that we
would like to acknowledge for their help than we could possibly
include without filling much of this book. We do want to start
by acknowledging all those who gave generously of their time to
share with us their perspective on what had happened to Toyota
and often provide critical data. Toyota as a whole was gracious in
opening its doors to us, making some of its busiest people avail-
able to us for interviews, efficiently organizing visits and tours,
and taking the attitude that it would share what it knew, and it
would be up to us to write what we believed to be true.
Here is a list of some of the people we interviewed within
Toyota, but there were many managers and team members whom
we talked to on various tours of the company’s facilities. We are
grateful to them all.
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), Japan
Akio Toyoda, President and Representative Director
Atsushi Niimi, Executive Vice President, Global Manufacturing
and Production Engineering; and Representative Director
