Project Organization 19
• The experience, education, and skill set of each person assigned to the project is
unique, and it is extremely important that the proper person be chosen for each posi-
tion, and that there be synergy in the entire project team.
• Often employees who are assigned to an off-site construction project for a period of
time find themselves “out of site and out of mind.”
• Ensure that there is a firm understanding of the terms of the contract to determine
which employees in the home office and their associated expenses can be billed to
the project.
• There is a management philosophy that says, “Do what you do well, and leave to
others what they do well.” Seldom does one person have all the skill sets required to
be a good PM, and when they do, they often do not have enough time to do them
simultaneously, especially with the fast tracking and pace of many projects.
