The selection of the rupture disc must also take account of the service
temperature of the disc and possible temperature excursions, fluid state
such as gas or liquid, cyclic or pulsating service, corrosiveness of envi-
ronment on both sides of the disc, vacuum or back pressure, and possibly
other operating conditions. Some types of rupture discs are available in a
limited range of pressures and sizes only. In some cases, therefore, the
manufacturer may need to be involved in the selection of rupture discs
already at the early project design stage.
Rupture Disc Device in Combination
with Pressure Relief Valve
Rupture discs may be used in combination with pressure relief valves
to isolate valve inlet and/or outlet from corrosive fluids prior to the valve
being called upon to open. This duty of the rupture disc must be carried
