must be displayed on each side and each end of the packaging. If the packaging has a capacity of less
than 3785 L (1000 gal), the number must be displayed on two opposite sides. Additional markings
may be required depending on the packaging and the material being transported. For example:
● Materials that are poisonous by inhalation must be marked “INHALATION HAZARD.”
● Cargo tanks used to transport gases must be marked on each side and each end with the
proper shipping name or common name of the gas.
● Portable tanks must be marked with the material’s proper shipping name on two oppo-
site sides, and the name of the owner.
