iaspora
Diaspora, from the Greek,
means "dispersion". In its
essential form, diaspora is a
minority community living in
exile. It involves the idea of
home, from which the
displacement occurs, and
histories of gruelling journeys
undertaken in the face of
economic or political hardship.
The most famous diaspora is,
of course, that of the Jews.
Each community has its own
historical experience and its
own problems.
