AUTHENTICITY
2. Which of these helped to shape your values? What
were your top five values?
3. What were key events or turning points that helped
you to develop your current vision and goals?
4. When your top five values were in conflict during
your life, what did you do to get back on track?
5. Based on your life’s journey, what are the goals and
priorities that you are working on now?
In conclusion, I want you to know that your story con-
tinues in the hearts and minds of others when you leave.
Authentic leaders leave a legacy. Success is wonderful, but
significance is even better. You were made to contribute
and to leave a mark on the people around you. When you
fail to live from the frame of reference that your story gives
you, you betray yourself. Authentic leaders are constantly
telling their stories and building their legacies by adding
deep value to the lives of others and leaving the world a
better place in the process.
Consider the questions in this chapter to be an initial
baseline for gauging your authenticity. There may be some
areas that you feel good about and other areas that you
would like to focus on now. Here are the five secrets again.
