efficiency of tamping.
To find the amount of dynamite with a rated density of 164 sticks to the 50-pound case that
can be tamped into this hole, follow the horizontal line in the table from the 3-inch line to the right
to the fourth column, under the values 47 and 164. We find that a 3-inch borehole will hold 2.3
pounds of this powder per lineal foot. Multiplying this by the 9-foot length, we have a possible
load of 20.7 pounds.
