                      Engendering Hope,

                      Trust, Faith, and

                      Belief in a Better

                      Tomorrow

p until a few years ago, most managers trivialized the
Uimportance of certain workplace topics, like hope, trust,

and faith, when it came to managing people, particularly in
larger organizations. That’s all changing. Today, even top busi-
ness schools, like Harvard Business School and Northwestern
University’s Kellogg Graduate School, offer entire management

courses featuring curriculum and case studies focused on these
                      exact subjects.
By now you’ve caught on to the continuous message woven
through the chapters of this book: it’s not enough to encourage
employees toward higher productivity and performance. Great

managers evaluate the whole person’s needs and, in the
process, are able to better grasp the importance of engendering
hope, trust, faith, and the belief in a better tomorrow. It is for
these reasons that employees are drawn to a specific organiza-

tion’s goals and will more readily buy into a manager’s long-
                      term vision.
